Marion, IN – Last Wednesday evening concluded the American Wind Energy Association’s (AWEA) 2010 Windpower Conference and Exhibition, held at the Dallas Convention Center in Texas. The Grant County Economic Growth Council was in attendance at this year’s conference, as a part of their mission to promote Grant County. The conference, which hosted over 20,000 attendees compiled of leading industries, had almost 1,400 companies exhibiting the latest in wind technology spanning over an area of approximately six football fields, making it their largest conference yet.
Several one-on-one meetings were conducted with companies from across the world, including the E.ON team as they look to establish a wind farm in Grant County. The Growth Council was also in attendance for sessions that covered topics such as Wind 101, State of the Wind Energy Industry, and Wind Power & Economic Development. Angelina Lindahl, project manager for the Growth Council, was the organization’s representative at the Dallas conference. She joined a host of other individuals from Indiana whom were representing companies such as Duke Energy, Indiana Michigan Power, Hoosier Energy, Ice Miller, and Energize ECI. The goal of the Growth Council’s participation in AWEA’s 2010 Windpower Conference was to promote wind generation within Grant County, while finding opportunities to attract wind manufacturers and to find prospects for the existing businesses to sell to wind generators. “With the growth of the wind power industry in Indiana, it has become essential that we as a state and county involve ourselves in opportunities that provide these networking and relationship building capabilities with these companies,” stated Growth Council Executive Director, Tim Eckerle. The Grant County Economic Growth Council is a non-profit organization with the mission to facilitate investment and reinvestment for job creation and retention in Grant County. #### |
