Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman recently awarded Grant County a $75,000 micro-enterprise assistance grant. The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs administers the grants through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
“Supporting small businesses is a crucial part of encouraging an economic comeback for our state,” said Lt. Governor Skillman. “Governor Daniels and I are proud to see Grant County dedicating resources to promote the success of local enterprises.”
The grant will be used to provide affordable loans, training, and technical assistance to businesses with five or less employees in Grant County. Supporting entrepreneurs that are seeking training and credit is a key priority in the county’s economic development plan.
The CDBG grant program has proven to be an effective tool for long-term community development. Projects eligible for micro-enterprise assistance grants must benefit or create jobs for low-to-moderate income persons.
