Marion, IN -- The Grant County Economic Growth Council hosted their ninth annual Investor Appreciation Luncheon on February 20, 2008 where they honored 80 companies who jointly invested $102,000,000 in Grant County in 2007.
This is the second highest number of businesses honored, topped by 82 businesses in 2007, and the fourth highest dollar amount, the highest ever being $250,000,000 in 2000.
“Today, we honor those who have continued to believe in our future and placed their money on it,” said Edward Merchant, 2008 Growth Council President.
New equipment and real estate were some of the investments companies made in 2007. The types of businesses honored ranged from Weaver Popcorn to Taylor and Indiana Wesleyan Universities to some newer businesses such as Smitty’s Truck Wash in Gas City.
“I always like to see the excellent cross-section of Grant County businesses being honored,” said Tim Eckerle, executive director of the Growth Council. “We have firms who have been here a long time and then others who are just starting out.”
STAR Financial Bank was a co-sponsor of this event.
The Grant County Economic Growth Council has a sole mission to facilitate investment and reinvestment for job retention and creation in Grant County and surrounding regions.
